What is LINK?

Hello, all!

On behalf of Kennesaw State University's LINK Leads group of 2013, we want to say thank you for visiting our blog!

For those of you who are not familiar with the LINK program, here is a short overview from KSU's Center for Student Leadership website:
"There are three phases of the LINK experience:  LINK Emerge, LINK Ascend, and LINK Leads, each year building on the previous.  The capstone experience is an international community engagement project developed by students, allowing them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge."

To break it down a little more...
During Emerge, students gain an understanding of self through various leadership modules, and they plan a local service project. Ascend focuses on how the students connect to and with others by requiring the students to plan a national service project. Finally, the Leads year focuses on the question, “how can we make a difference in the world?” and involves organizing an international trip.

-------------------------------------------------

As an Emerge group that started out with nearly 130 students total, it's amazing to think that only 10 of us will be traveling to the gorgeous country of Greece this May. We decided on Greece at the beginning of 2012 and have been making plans ever since.  As a group, we find it fair to say that we've been through the ups, the downs, the even-farther-downs, and everywhere in between. Planning our trip to Greece has pushed many of us to limits we didn't know we had but has also proven that we can overcome nearly anything thrown our way. Throughout the whole Leads phase of the LINK program, we have put into place all of the leadership skills we learned since day one of Emerge. Little did we know, this program comes full circle! Who'da thunk?...

With a little less than 19 days before we leave, excitement is at an all-time high, and I can guarantee it will be higher with each passing day. Our itinerary is in place, and the only things left for us to do are to finish paying some deposits and to pack! (Oh, and I guess we all need to pay some attention to our finals...)

Since we, unfortunately, cannot take all of our lovely readers of this blog--family, friends, acquaintances, other students who go to KSU, and random internet users--with us, we hope that you will use this blog as a way to tag along. We will post as much as possible while we are over in Greece, and we hope you have a wonderful vicarious experience.

We will be traveling from May 16-28. Thank you for joining us!

Love,
LINK Leads Greece 2013
